Replacing the blue bird
It was during the street art festival No Limit in 2015 that DALeast was one of a number of artists from all over the world who created artworks in public places around Borås. With the help of graffiti, he then erected a blue bird on the façade of the university library that spread its wings over several parallel wall sections. The artwork was originally intended to only be up for a limited time, but due to its popularity with both the university and residents of Borås, the work was allowed to remain until 2019 when the façade underwent extensive renovation. Already in connection with the disappearance of that artwork, it was decided that a new artwork would have the chance to decorate the walls in the future, and now it is clear that the assignment will once again go to DALeast.The artwork was supposed to have been erected during the anniversary year 2021 and in connection with Borås' 400th anniversary celebrations, but has been repurposed. - This is a gift to Borås and the city's residents and we have really missed the bird that was one of our most appreciated murals. The new artwork is funded by Akademiska Hus and Borås TME and is being done in collaboration with the University of Borås and Artscape.
