Botan has a land area of 11,300 square meters and is built with three buildings with a total of 10,000 square meters of leasable area. The property is located southwest of Gothenburg's city centre adjacent to the Botanical Garden and Änggården Nature Reserve. The current tenant is mostly the University of Gothenburg, but Region Västra Götaland also rents a smaller part through its real estate company Västfastigheter.
The University of Gothenburg plans to move its operations in Botan to the Natrium building, which Akademiska Hus is constructing on Campus Medicinareberget and which will be completed in 2023. This means that the company no longer has the opportunity to rent out Botan to its core customer - universities and colleges.
"Skandia Fastigheter is an established player with a long-term interest in managing and developing the property for current and future tenants and contributing to the area's development. We are very pleased with the agreement," says Magnus Huss, Market Area Director at Akademiska Hus.
Skandia Fastigheter will take possession of the property on 2 May 2022 and will take over all existing leases in unchanged form. The consulting company Nordanö has advised Akademiska Hus in the sale.
