When the University of Skövde conducted the large survey "The Student Barometer", students highlighted the need for more seating and gathering places outdoors. They also expressed a wish that the outdoor environment should be more inviting and more places for recovery on campus.
Together with the University, Akademiska Hus has taken note of the wishes and the rebuilt area now offers space for both activity and rest with new trees and plants, tables, benches and sunbeds. There is also a nice pergola with ceiling lighting and the opportunity to charge your mobile phone or computer.
The official opening on April 27 was a success, with ribbon cutting, activities and opportunities to explore the new environment.
"It feels extremely good. The area around the A-building has not been so inviting before. Now the entire campus area is tied together in a better way and we have an attractive outdoor meeting space at the northern end of the campus area," says Magnus Littmarck, property controller at the University of Skövde.
"We are proud to be able to contribute to the development of the University of Skövde's outdoor environment. Our task of creating stimulating knowledge environments also includes areas between the buildings, and we hope that the new meeting place will be a welcoming and inspiring place for both activity and rest," says Henrik Mortensen, strategic property developer at Akademiska Hus.
With the new meeting place, the University of Skövde can offer its students and staff a place to relax and socialize, while also contributing to creating a more sustainable and inviting campus environment.
