Akademiska Hus is a finalist in the Citylab of the Year award together with Gottorp, Skanska. This year's award ceremony will be held in connection with the Building Sustainability conference in Stockholm.
Citylab
In 2018, Akademiska Hus had the opportunity to pioneer the Citylab project, which aimed to create a sustainable district. From the beginning, Campus Örebro was one of four selected districts that acted as pioneers, and today we can proudly say that we are the first district to have completed the journey.
The project has also contributed to a deeper collaboration and created a consensus between Akademiska Hus as the property owner and Örebro University as the university.
Within the framework of Citylab, we have collaborated in different constellations to address different indicators. This has resulted in shared knowledge of how students, staff and visitors perceive the campus area, which has given us support and insights into how we can future-proof our campus and improve the experience for everyone who spends time there.
Within Örebro Campus Lab, the Citylab sub-project has been the clearest proof of the collaboration, where the work has meant that several employees and students have come together and worked closely together on the various indicators.
Background Örebro Campus Lab
In 2018, Örebro University and Akademiska Hus entered into a comprehensive partnership agreement with the aim of working together to make the university Sweden's most digitalised and sustainable higher education institution. Through several innovative projects, this collaboration would promote the development of an education and research environment that was at the forefront of digitalization and sustainability.
The aim of the project was to implement a number of concrete measures over a four-year period; test beds as well as dialogue and research projects to create the innovative education and research environment of the future together with the university – the collaboration was named Örebro Campus Lab, ÖCL.
