A Working Lab, located on Campus Johanneberg adjacent to Chalmers University of Technology, offers a flexible environment with coworking spaces, meeting rooms, and a vibrant community. It fosters collaboration among stakeholders at various stages of innovation and business development, providing space for students, researchers, and the business sector to meet, work, and study in new and dynamic ways. For Akademiska Hus, the partnership with Founders Loft marks another step toward strengthening Gothenburg’s innovation cluster.
"The fact that Founders Loft has chosen A Working Lab demonstrates that we have created an attractive environment for both startups and established businesses. By sharing resources and expertise, we can contribute to the dynamic and sustainable development of Gothenburg’s business ecosystem, directly linked to academia," says Pontus Isaksson, Area Property Manager at Akademiska Hus.
"We at A Working Lab are thrilled to welcome Founders Loft to our community. Their energy and innovative ideas will make our already vibrant environment even more dynamic. Together, we are building a creative arena where startups, researchers, and established businesses can connect, exchange ideas, and create smart, sustainable solutions for the future," says Ebba Kullin, Site Manager at A Working Lab.
Access to networks that enable scaling up
Since its inception, Founders Loft has supported close to 200 companies in establishing and growing their businesses. With a focus on sustainable growth, the incubator specializes in helping entrepreneurs navigate the critical early stages of development. Founders Loft is deeply committed to promoting innovation as well as advancing issues such as gender equality and diversity.
"We look forward to continuing our work in an environment that promotes collaboration and innovation. For our entrepreneurs, moving to A Working Lab means better access to networks and resources that will help them scale up their businesses," says Malin Jovanovic Gunnarsson, CEO of Founders Loft.
About A Working Lab – a national concept
A Working Lab is Akademiska Hus' national concept for coworking and flexible meeting spaces. This initiative enables new ways of researching, working, and studying within the real estate company’s campus-adjacent premises. The first A Working Lab opened in autumn 2019 at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, followed by locations such as A Working Lab Universum in Umeå and A Working Lab Innomedicum at Campus Solna. Since 2022, A Working Lab has also operated the coworking space THINGS at KTH Campus in Stockholm.
Membership grants access to all A Working Lab locations nationwide. Together, these environments form a national network that connects Sweden’s campuses, offering shared expertise, resources, and systems. For example, members working in Gothenburg can easily access the coworking facilities in Stockholm for a day.
