To enhance accessibility while also promoting sustainable development on our campuses, Akademiska Hus has initiated a pilot project involving a four-wheeled cargo bike with electric pedal assistance. The Vok cargo bike provides an easy and effective way to transport tools and equipment around campus, bypassing the restrictions that car traffic may impose. The project also has marketing value as the bike visibly demonstrates our commitment to sustainable solutions. Initially, the cargo bike will be tested at Kräftriket, but if successful, we aim to introduce cargo bikes to several of our campuses in the future.
The Vok cargo bike is equipped with an electric motor, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 25 km/h. It can travel up to 100 km on a single charge and has a large cargo space of 2000 litres, equivalent to several large suitcases. The bike can carry up to 200 kg, making it easy to transport the tools and equipment needed for campus operations. It’s manoeuvrable and easy to drive on narrower paths, thanks to its compact size and reliable braking system. However, the cargo space is designed for goods only, not for passenger transport.
By using electric cargo bikes on our campuses, we hope to reduce our environmental impact while benefiting from a convenient and flexible transport solution that can support our daily operational needs.
