The new specially adapted premises were inaugurated on 17 March and are designed to meet the legal, financial and administrative services sgency's high safety requirements for handling larger batteries. The batteries are used by the Faculty of Science in their research, which requires a high level of safety and special precautions.
The premises are equipped with adapted safety solutions that greatly reduce the risks associated with charging. Among other things, the premises have a fire classification (EI60), which means that it is extra protected against the spread of fire. In addition, the room is equipped with a separate ventilation system that leads directly out of the building, which reduces the risk of gas formation and the spread of hazardous substances. Each charging point is equipped with a timer to prevent the batteries from being charged longer than necessary, and the batteries are placed on specially adapted trolleys that can be quickly transported out in the event of an incident.
The joint project between Akademiska Hus and the University of Gothenburg is an important step in strengthening the safety of battery management in research environments.
