University of Gothenburg - Näckrosen
Environmental construction
Humanisten fulfills the requirements for Environmental Construction Gold in extension and Silver in redevelopment. Miljöbyggnad is a certification system for creating environmentally sustainable buildings. It is based on Swedish building and authority regulations as well as Swedish construction practice. Environmental building is a certificate of important qualities of a building in terms of energy, indoor environment and materials and is used for newly produced and existing buildings regardless of size. In Environmental Construction, a building can achieve the bronze, silver or gold rating. Behind the certification stands the non-profit association Sweden Green Building Council (SGBC).
Being a tenant in a certified building means a responsibility in the use of the premises and the building to create the smallest possible environmental impact. In order for the property to be able to maintain the certification, it is important that you as a tenant know what applies. This house guide contains information about how the building works and tips on what you as a tenant can influence.

Heat
To reduce energy use when heating the building, systems are used that convert heat from the sun, the building also has a thermostat that regulates that the temperature is kept at an even and optimal level.
To think about as a tenant
The radiators are set to, together with the ventilation, ensure a good climate in the rooms. It is therefore important not to add extra heat, it can destroy the system. Contact us if you experience discomfort.
Energy
The building is supplied for the most part with renewable energy, this in the form of solar energy, wind power/hydropower and waste heat from industries.
Solar heat loads
In order to determine that the solar radiation does not add an unwanted amount of heat during the warmer part of the year, sun screens are installed.
To think about as a tenant
As a tenant, it is important that the office is furnished according to what was specified when moving in. If the need for furniture changes, please contact us.
Moisture safety
The building has adequate protection against moisture, through roof drainage and facade materials that ensure that moisture cannot penetrate into the property.
To think about as a tenant
If you, as a tenant, suspect or experience problems with leakage or moisture, you must report a fault to Akademiska Hus.
Sound
There may be disturbing sounds or sounds that can damage hearing. In teaching premises, there are requirements from the Swedish Work Environment Agency which noise levels must not be exceeded. When talking about teaching premises, the noise from installations etc should not exceed 35 dba, for offices it is 40 dba.

The business's own sounds, such as from computers, printers, etc., are not taken into account. Sounds from installations can be heard if you listen for this, it is noticeable when the ventilation shuts off in the evenings.

It is important that you file a bug report if you experience sound-related problems.
Light
A good lighting environment is important both for health and performance. Light is important for the regulation of circadian rhythm, sleep and wakefulness rhythm, mood regulation and activation. There are recommended guideline values for illuminance for general lighting and spot lighting for various premises/work functions. There are also requirements for access to daylight in homes and premises.
The building has presence-controlled lighting that is regulated in different ways depending on the function of the room, this also has a positive effect on the building's energy consumption.

The campus service center on the ground floor of the Humanisten, handles the issuing of access cards and keys, you can also turn there if there is a fault with a door or function.
Lighting
In order to save energy, the building's lighting system is predominantly performed presence-controlled.
This causes the lighting to switch on and off automatically.
Fluorescent lamps are generally made with high-frequency devices (HF devices) that provide flicker-free
lighting. Some fixtures in escape routes are connected to uninterruptible power such as led/emergency lighting and
turns on automatically in the event of a power failure.
Exterior lighting
Lighting in entrances, windbreaks and exterior lighting is switched on and off automatically via a central system
installed light relay in combination with time function.
Classrooms
Classrooms strive to have an active ignition by pressing a button. Switching off may also require a button press, but if the lamp does not switch off, it is set to switch off when there is no one in the room.
The switch-off takes place on absence, in some cases switch-off is required on the button.
There are environmental stations on different floors for plastic, paper, deposits and more. Akademiska Hus is responsible for the trash cans outside, questions about other waste management are referred to campus services.

Classrooms / Auditoriums
Akademiska Hus is responsible for supplying heating and ventilation as well as lighting to all halls. The humanisten is certified with environmental building gold in the newly built part that was completed in December 2019. The other humanisten that was renovated at the same time is certified with environmental building silver

Main entrances, adapted for people in wheelchairs
In front of the main entrances, the surface is hardened and the slope is adapted for people with reduced mobility.
Next to revolving doors, there are doors equipped with automatic door openers.
Parking spaces intended for the disabled can be found within 25 meters of the main entrance.
Elevator
There are a total of four (5) passenger lifts in the building. All floors can be reached via the lifts
wheelchair. Free passage through the entrance is at least 84 cm. The lift has:
• A measure that can handle wheelchairs.
• Automatic telescopic sliding doors
• Bright and clear lighting
• Alarm button and emergency phone
• Tutor and mirror
RWC
There is access to RWC in the building. The toilet has:
• Free passage size greater than 84 cm
• Reference sign on door
• Pull handle on the inside of the door
• Working alarm
• Folding armrests at the toilet seat
• Bright and clear lighting
Parking spaces for cars and bicycles are available in the area, find the nearest space on Parkering Göteborg's website.
Bicycle parking is also available on Lundgrensgatan between Språkskrapan and Humanisten, in front of the University Library. As well as at the Artist and the Archaeologist.
Bus and tram connections are within walking distance of the campus. More information is available on Västtrafik's website.
Fire protection
SCARED - WARN - ALARM - EXTINGUISH
Evacuation
If the fire alarm goes off, evacuate the house according to evacuation signs. Fire doors close automatically
to prevent smoke from spreading. The existing lifts must not be used in the event of a fire alarm.
The gathering place for the Humanist is at Solringen, located in front of the main entrance.
Emergency alarm from elevators and RWC
In elevators, there is an alarm button that goes to the alarm center, even outside normal working hours. The elevators are equipped with emergency telephones that have voice communication capabilities 24 hours a day. Pressing the alarm button sounds a signal outside the elevator in the building. RWC is equipped with alarms that are connected locally to the University of Gothenburg. Check with your campus for more information.
The indoor climate is controlled automatically via the building's technical system, in the form of ventilation and radiator systems.
Ventilation
The ventilation normally runs during the day. In all rooms, the air flow increases/decreases via temperature
and air quality. In some cases, it is controlled with regard to presence in the room, so it can take a while before the climate is good in the room after being empty for a long time.
Heat
The house has a water-borne heating system with radiators and is automatically regulated with regard to the temperature in the room and outside temperature.
A general smoking ban prevails in all Akademiska Hus premises. Smoking is also not permitted in public areas, such as elevators and stairwells. Smoking is not permitted 10 meters from entrances and 15 meters from fresh air intakes. Read more at the Public Health Agency.
