General information

The artist is located between Renströmsparken and Götaplatsen and is home to the University of Theater and Music via the University of Gothenburg. The total area is around 18,000 square meters distributed over four building blocks and five floors. Among other things, there is a concert hall with seating for 400, an organ hall, several theater and music studios and two theater rooms.

Before the Artisten was built, Kjellbergska high school was here, then the adult high school. The old building was rebuilt and combined with the new building, which was completed in 1992 and was designed by Nyréns Arkitektkontor. Creative forces gather here in a very inspiring environment. Former students at HSM include Bianca Kronlöf, Adam Lundgren and Maya Rung.

The building is located in an area of national interest for the preservation of the cultural environment.
