Centrally located near Aveny and Korsvägen is the building Artisten. There are learning environments focused on activities in music and dance.
Artisten is located between Renströmsparken and Götaplatsen and is home to the Academy of Music and Drama via the University of Gothenburg. The total area is about 18,000 sqm divided into four buildings and five floors. Among other things, there is a concert hall with room for 400 listeners, an organ hall, several theatre and music studios and two theatre venues. In 1993, Artisten was awarded a prize by the Per and Alma Olsson Foundation, "For good architecture".
Artisten is currently undergoing an extensive renovation. Together with two brand new buildings being built on the site, it will be space for the entire Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg. The new and old buildings will together be named Konstnärliga.

The artist is welcoming and inviting with his openness and is from the beginning a natural part of the city and the city's cultural life."
The building is located in an area of national interest for cultural heritage conservation.
