Forum Medicum was ready for occupancy in 2023 and comprises 16,000 square meters of new construction and 7,800 square meters of reconstruction of the Biomedical Center (BMC) at Sölvegatan in Lund. The building has provided the Faculty of Medicine with state-of-the-art premises for education, research and offices. The new building takes advantage of valuable opportunities for new forms of collaboration between the faculty's programmes in medicine, health and care, and a total of about 4,000 students, researchers and staff are based here.
Forum Medicum consists of three buildings and has a docking to the older BMC complex. The building has public spaces on the ground floor and five floors for teaching and offices, as well as a smaller, recessed penthouse. With a restaurant and entrances in different directions, there is a welcoming environment for those who are going to a lecture, to their workplace or are just in the mood for a coffee.
A great deal of focus has been placed on flexibility for office and teaching premises so that they can easily be used and changed based on the university's different needs. The building creates an open and inviting space that makes the activities in Forum Medicum more accessible to the outside world.
