The building is located at Näckrosdammen in central Gothenburg, close to both Avenyn and Korsvägen. The building was originally built in 1984 but underwent an extensive renovation and extension that was completed in 2019.
The building contains offices, advanced learning environments, study spaces and auditoriums. The building is characterized by openness that promotes meetings between students and teachers. There is also a centrally located restaurant that is a gathering place for the area. On the ground floor there is a café with technology that makes it easier for distance learners.
In designing the building, the architects drew inspiration from the 1923 World Exhibition and the memorial hall with the stately temple motif that existed at the time. The pillars create a grand impression but are at the same time turned with the narrow side forward so that the building can interact with the surrounding park. The pillars are also not completely identical to each other, which creates a changing and interesting expression.
The building is located in an area of national interest for cultural heritage conservation.
