The oval four-storey building has created a link through the block at Osquars backe and contributes with a stimulating and creative environment in the middle of the campus area. Since the new School of Architecture is located directly adjacent to other activities at KTH, there are conditions for new interesting collaborations across borders.
The building also won an award for its architecture in 2015, and has been given its exterior by its curved facades, built up of frames with staggered openings and glass sections. The framework of rust-red corten steel can be seen as a reinterpretation of the red brick architecture of the older buildings, which has become KTH's hallmark. In the middle of the building there is an open hall that serves as a gathering point and a natural exhibition space where architecture students can showcase their work. Here, the school's activities can also be developed over time with, for example, exhibitions, films, lectures and experiments. There is also the option to vary the light and room structure, from closed to fully open.
The drawing rooms are located on floors 3, 4 and 5 and are designed as open planes, rooms with 360-degree views and the possibility of being divided into smaller room formations. Level 2 serves as an open office floor with service functions, meeting rooms and a kitchenette. At the top of the building there is a penthouse from which you can access the roof terrace with a view of KTH and the stone city to the south. Adjacent to the School of Architecture is also KTH Entré, which serves as the entrance point for the entire KTH Campus.
