Approximately 1,000 people conduct research, study, and work at Campus GIH. The campus features lecture halls, laboratories and test environments, computer rooms, sports halls, gyms, a swimming pool, a restaurant, and a library. In front of GIH, there is a lawn and two tennis courts. Nearby, there are also artificial turf football fields, an athletics straight track, and a skating track. The campus is located in the National City Park, providing access to large green areas.
GIH Pool, a shared swimming and recreation hall for GIH and the public, was reopened in the autumn of 2019 after extensive renovations that made the pool more sustainable and accessible.
GIH was designed by architects Gunnar Wejke and Kjell Ödéen, who worked according to the ideals of the Swedish "folkhem" era to combine practical utility with aesthetics. The facility has simple and clean lines with facades of unplastered red brick. An extension and renovation, designed by Wingårdhs Architects, was completed in 2012, and the new section fits well with the existing building's 1940s style.
