General information
The new oval four-storey building, with a total area of 8,800 m2, has created a link through the neighborhood at Osquars hill and contributes a stimulating and creative environment in the middle of the campus area. As the new School of Architecture is directly connected to other activities at KTH, there are conditions for new interesting collaborations across borders.
Externally, the building has been given its character by the curved facades, made up of frames with staggered openings and glass sections. The rust-red Corten steel framework can be seen as a reinterpretation of the red brick architecture of the older buildings, which has become KTH's signature. In the center of the building there is an open hall that acts as a gathering point and a natural exhibition room where the architecture students can showcase their work. Here, the school's activities can also develop over time with, for example, exhibitions, films, lectures and experiments. There is also the possibility to vary the light and room structure, from closed to completely open.
The drawing rooms are found on floors 3, 4 and 5 and are designed as open-plan, rooms with 360-degree views and the possibility of being divided into smaller room formations. Level 2 functions as an open office plan with service functions, meeting rooms and a kitchenette. At the top of the building there is an attic from which you can go out onto the roof terrace with a view of KTH and the stone city to the south. Next to the School of Architecture, there is also the KTH Entrance, which serves as the entrance to the KTH Campus.
