General information
In 1946, the Riksdag decided on a new dental institute in Malmö, which became the city's first academic education. The building was completed in 1949 and the Royal College of Dentistry could move in.
During the 1970s, the need for more training places became great (general dental insurance was introduced in 1973) and a facility upgrade was necessary. The basic education was discontinued in 1985 to be resumed in 1990, in connection with this a systematic reconstruction of the College of Dentistry was started in 1992 to reach modern standards. The Faculty of Odontology is part of Malmö University.
