Ångström
The Ångström Laboratory is a central part of Uppsala University and is considered one of Europes most advanced laboratories for materials research. The campus is an internationally recognized part of the Akademiska Hus property portfolio, and it represents the universitys strong focus on high-quality research and education. Here, prospective civil and higher education engineers and natural scientists have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources that support their academic and professional development.
Building 10 was ready for occupancy in January 2022 and can accommodate just over 1,200 students and 400 employees. In addition to teaching and research premises, there are also offices, reception, student services, meeting spaces, a restaurant, library, atrium, auditorium and a visualization theater. The higher part of the building houses the Department of Information Technology.
Environmental room is located next to the goods reception, Building 1.
For those who need assistance to get down the stairs in an emergency, there is an escape point in each stairwell. There, you can call for help through an emergency phone that calls the business's security guard. Through them, you then get further help to get out.
On each floor there are evacuation plans set up with information on how to evacuate the house in an emergency. It's good if you check there, so you're sure how it works on your particular floor.
Hand fire extinguishers are available on every level. Furniture or loose objects must not be placed in stairwells and thus make evacuation more difficult in an emergency.
The lighting in corridors and toilets is presence controlled, it is regulated automatically depending on whether there are any people in the room. The lighting in offices is also controlled via presence, but can also be turned on and off manually via a pull cord. A short pull on the string switches the lighting on/off. A long pull dims the lighting.
Please note that if the luminaire is switched off via the pull cord, it will not be switched on via the presence sensor either, until you actively choose to switch the lighting on with the cord again. If it then remains on, it will again be turned on and off automatically by presence in the room.
An automatic evacuation alarm is installed in the house. This serves all communication areas, public areas and larger group rooms. In the public areas on floors K1-2, there is also a talking evacuation alarm. Evacuation takes place via the stairwell down to floor K1-1 and then out of the building. On floor K1-1, evacuation takes place via a number of doors leading out of the building, alternatively into building 1.
There are indicative markings and in the event of a power cut, emergency lighting is switched on in stairwells and walkways to the escape routes. Lifts must not be used in connection with evacuation.
In the event of a fire, the floor on which the alarm is indicated is evacuated, except for K1-1, where all three floors are evacuated at the same time. The meeting place is at the red villas, Lägerhyddsvägen 3-7.

CLIMATE PROTECTION
The external climate protections are above all mounted on the south facade of the hill, as well as on level 2 to the west. These contribute to optimizing the indoor climate from an energy-saving perspective. The climate protection is regulated based on the temperature and the amount of sun and cannot be controlled manually.
Depending on which direction the facade of your room is placed, it makes a difference which solar shading is installed. If there is a string hanging down from the roller blind, you can operate it yourself. The roller blinds without strings are part of the climate protection and are controlled automatically.
TEMPERATURE
The building is dimensioned to maintain certain minimum and maximum temperatures and the temperature may therefore vary. Factors that affect the temperature are the location of the room and the outdoor climate, as well as whether or not there is a person in the room. The room temperature cannot be regulated manually.
The building's ventilation is needs-based. It is regulated automatically based on the number of people in the room and whether or not there is presence. The premises are predetermined for a certain maximum number of people. If no one is in a room for a long time, the ventilation will allow both lower and higher temperatures, depending on the prevailing climate outside. When there is a presence in the room again, the ventilation automatically adjusts the flow correctly so that you get a pleasant indoor climate. There are push buttons on each floor that give the possibility to start or extend the ventilation by two hours, after office hours.
