New collaboration will strengthen Grythyttan and the School of Hospitality and Restaurant Management

Hällefors Municipality, the County Administrative Board of Örebro County, Region Örebro County, Örebro University and Akademiska Hus have signed an agreement. The partners will work together to strengthen the place Grythyttan and the prestigious School of Hospitality and Hospitality, which offers some of the country's leading education and research in food science and hospitality.

The purpose of the regional agreement is to jointly strengthen Grythyttan's position and promote the development of the School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts, which is run locally by Örebro University. Through close cooperation, the parties involved will contribute to creating an even more attractive environment that promotes business and the hospitality industry, as well as student life in higher education.

"The School of Hospitality and Restaurant Management is very important for Hällefors municipality. We are very happy about this joint investment and look forward to strengthening Grythyttan together," says Veronica Svensson, Municipal Manager of Hällefors Municipality.

Ambitious and concrete goal

The agreement means that the parties have specified areas in which they want to collaborate towards common goals. The areas of collaboration include, among other things, the establishment of testbed activities where companies, academia and other organisations can collaborate to develop new products, processes and organisational solutions in food processing or the hospitality industry.

- The Grythyttan location will be characterised by sustainable development, food knowledge and preparedness linked to domestic food production. By bringing together resources and expertise from different areas of society, we can together create a platform for innovation and growth that benefits both local and regional interests," says Anna Olofsson, County Commissioner at the County Administrative Board of Örebro County.

"This goes hand in hand with our vision to build a strong regional support system around food, we know that the upcoming national food strategy will focus on domestic food production and increased preparedness and we need to focus on innovation, business promotion efforts but also increased resilience and security in the sector. says Charlotta Englund, regional councillor from Region Örebro County.

Focus on sustainability

The collaboration also involves developing the campus area in Grythyttan with a focus on sustainability, for example by installing electric car chargers and solar cell systems.

"Through collaboration with other actors, Örebro University can create a better study environment for our students. The collaboration will also contribute to the development of research and education at Campus Grythyttan as well as at the entire university," says Karin Hedström, Dean of Örebro University.

- Together with academia, business and society, Akademiska Hus creates sustainable and competitive campus areas that integrate and interact with the surrounding society. Being part of this agreement contributes to us being able to achieve just that to an even greater extent in Grythyttan and strengthen student life on campus and the town," says Anna Alsborger, Property Director at Akademiska Hus.
