We at Akademiska Hus would like to wish everyone on campus a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

During the past year, we have had the pleasure of implementing several important projects. Among other things, in Kv Paradis we have renovated the G:a Lungkliniken, and at LTH we have inaugurated an innovative storm water solution in the ponds Pölen and Sjön. This collaborative project aims to climate-proof our properties while creating an attractive and sustainable outdoor environment for the future. Our collaboration project with Biodiversity around Biology, Ecology and Kemicentrum has been seen in the media during the year. With our sights set on 2025, we look forward to continuing to develop campus areas that inspire learning, collaboration and sustainability. To report urgent errors during the Christmas break, call our switchboard, just as usual, on the number: 010-557 24 00. Information about snow removal and anti-slip

At Akademiska Hus, we work actively to ensure that our properties are safe and accessible during the winter months. In collaboration with our land contractor Peab, we are responsible for both snow removal and anti-slip control in the area. This is how we work with snow removal:Snow removal is carried out early in the morning and must be finished no later than 07.00, provided that the snowfall has stopped no later than 04.00. If it snows later in the night or day, we make sure the snow removal is completed within four hours after the snowfall has stopped. In the event of a slip, we do our best to combat the area within four hours of the slip occurring. If it snows heavily during the day, we prioritize main entrances, driveways and parking areas so that you can move around safely. We clear snow when the snow depth reaches 3 cm for wet snow or 5 cm for dry snow, and ensure that a maximum of 1 cm of snow or ice remains afterwards.Entrances, stairs, ramps and other important surfaces are kept completely free of snow and ice.If necessary, we use manual shoveling for the surfaces that cannot be cleared of snow with machines.Keep in mind that surfaces in the shade can be a little more difficult to combat slips, as the salt is not activated as effectively without sun and a lot of foot traffic. But we work continuously to keep all areas as safe as possible.

Now we are improving Blå Stråket

During weeks 38 to 42, work is underway to improve the Blå Stråket. This means that pedestrian/bicycle traffic through the UB park will be redirected and accessibility will be affected.According to the current detailed plan, we may not lay asphalt along the Blå Stråket. Together with the municipality of Lund, which has maintenance responsibility, we have now found an alternative solution to make the pedestrian and cycle path better. By raising and lowering the levels and removing kerbstones, we can create new catchment zones that divert stormwater. This, in turn, will lead to us removing the water furrows we currently have problems with. Now the County Administrative Board, Lund municipality and the city antiquary have approved the plan, which is why we can now start the work.We hope for understanding for any disruptions, soon the Blå Stråket will be just like before, but better!

Summer letter from Akademiska Hus

Now there are not many days left before most of us get a much-needed day off and the opportunity to recharge our batteries. It has been an intense academic year where a lot has happened on our campus in Lund and Malmö.We have conducted this year's NKI survey where the result for Lund/Malmö ended up at 60, a clear rise from last year's measurement of 51. If we look at Lund Center and Malmö, we increase the result to 61 from 59 in the last measurement. Universitetsplatån increased to 60 from 56 and LTH to 59 from 41. A result we are very happy about, but the work continues to make us even better. More about the results will come at the autumn house meetings.Lund Center:We have renovated the G:a Lungkliniken, which is now ready for occupancy at the beginning of June. During the autumn, we began the replacement of outdoor fixtures in Kv Paradis and in the UB park, which has now been completed. Together with our contractor Peab and our land manager Catharina, we have looked over the vegetation and taken measures to above all increase safety, more will be done during the autumn. The university library is being carefully renovated to create a new entrance that meets the beautiful building in a better way and more study places, expected to be completed by the turn of the year 24/25.Lund Universitetsplatån:During the spring, we adapted a room for LU Byggnad at KC 3. It is the first room in Anshelmhusen that has been adapted to function as a large-room office, and it will be exciting to see which business moves into the room.We unfortunately had a fire on BMC's roof which fortunately did not cause any major damage to the house or impact on the business. The emergency services did a good job so that the water damage was minimized. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated. It is likely that a scaffold will need to be placed over parts of the house during the restoration.Lund LTH:At LTH, there are two major development projects of the outdoor environment in the starting pits, a collaboration project with VA SYD and REWAISE where we will test the future stormwater delay in the ponds lake Sjön and pond Pölen as well as strengthen the attractiveness around an important gathering place on campus. The project is planned to be ready before the traditional regatta and is illustrated in the picture on the next page. The second development project is to strengthen the outdoor environment of the Northern Campus at LTH, where interventions during the autumn/winter will take place in front of the Police Hall with new bicycle parking, the Amphitheater, the AK park and all the way up to the IKDC entrance. Akademiska Hus is proud and happy that the design was developed in collaboration with representatives from LU Byggnad, LTH and TLTH.Many thanks for a good cooperation during the spring and we hope that you all have a nice summer and time off. We ourselves look forward to gardening, rounds of golf with friends, underwater rugby cup in Barcelona, barbecue evenings and many salty baths in the Sound, which gives us lots of energy.Sunny greetingsChristoffer, Elin, Lars-Bertil and colleagues

The university library is being carefully renovated

The university library has been voted the most beautiful building in both Lund and Sweden. Akademiska Hus is now investing SEK 45 million in nurturing and future-proofing the over a hundred-year-old university environment. When the work is finished, all windows will be renovated and more study places will have been created. The university library was completed in 1907 on Helgonabacken in Lund. The building, which has a typical mix of styles with features of both Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Gothic, has since been expanded during the 1930s, 1950s and 1990s and more than doubled its area. In 1993, the university library was declared a building monument by the government, which puts the preservation of architectural values in focus in all reconstruction. Starting in October, Akademiska Hus will begin a renovation of the building's approximately 470 windows, which is necessary because the majority of these are original windows. The work means that all windows, fittings, frames and arches are reviewed and repaired, puttyed, sealed and painted where necessary. The window renovation will take place in stages and is expected to be completed by December 2024 at the latest. - The beautiful university library is a symbolic building for both Lund University and Lund Municipality. Carefully renovating and adapting it to meet the needs of today and the future is a responsible mission. In order to secure the building's great cultural values, we have involved a number of different experts in the process, including the county administrative board, Lund municipality and architects, says Ali Ranji, project director at Akademiska Hus. New study places and increased accessibility In close collaboration with Lund University, parts of the indoor environment in the added parts will also undergo a renovation. With a planned start in February 2024, 2,000 m2 will be rebuilt for better orientation and accessibility, an increased number of study places, larger and more efficient space for exhibitions and a better working environment. - By utilizing and highlighting the original character of the library room, the hope is that the expectations the building's exterior gives, will be fulfilled during a library visit. The information desk will again be placed centrally in the library hall and today's entrance area will become a new exhibition room, says Ulla-Britt Persson, local planner at Lund University. - The mezzanine, the middle floor one step up, is also part of the project. Among other things, six group rooms for students will be built here, the entrance hall will be supplemented with a new staircase and an elevator will be installed to make the mezzanine floor accessible to everyone, says Elisabeth Stålesjö, process manager at the University Library. Just like the window renovation, the remodeling of the indoor environment is expected to be completed by December 2024 at the latest. This text has been automatically translated, and some inaccuracies may be present.
