Ångström

The Ångström Laboratory is a central part of Uppsala University and is considered one of Europe's most advanced laboratories for materials research. The building is an internationally renowned part of Akademiska Hus' property portfolio, representing the university's strong focus on high-quality research and education. Here, future civil and university engineers, as well as scientists, have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources that support their academic and professional development.

Area and properties

The building and its surroundings offer a range of amenities to support students and staff. There is access to modern technology, comfortable study areas, and social spaces where students and researchers can collaborate and exchange ideas. With its strategic location and extensive resources, the Ångström Laboratory is a vital part of Uppsala University's campus and a symbol of its commitment to academic excellence and innovation. Ångström also features a green space for socializing and other activities, including a beach volleyball court.

 

New Ångström

 

In 2020, a new building, House 9, was inaugurated at Ångström. This building is part of the New Ångström project, adding another 5,700 square meters for teaching, research, and collaboration to the university.

As a continuation of the New Ångström project, House 10 was also constructed, serving as the new main building in the north. The building covers approximately 23,000 square meters and offers facilities for teaching and research in engineering and natural sciences. House 10 was ready for occupancy in January 2022 and accommodates over 1,200 students and 400 staff members. In addition to teaching and research facilities, it houses offices, a reception, student services, meeting areas, a restaurant, a library, an atrium, an auditorium, and a visualization theater. The upper part of the building is home to the Department of Information Technology.

Overall, the New Ångström project has significantly expanded the university's capacity and contributed to creating a creative and interdisciplinary environment for students and researchers.
